Today we commemorate Detje Sipma, born 20-5-2025 in St Annaparochie, Friesland, daughter of Minne Sipma and Trijntje Visser. Married to Taeke Visser and later to Jimme Smit. She was my mother in law by (me) being married to Neeltje Smit, daughter of Jimme. We enjoyed her good humour despite the difficult years where Jimme's health deteriorated. We accompanied her during her 80th birthday in Canada. It was sad for us but good for her to return to her children and the land where she would rest for ever. Thank you Detty for the good years we shared.

My loving Grandma, Although we were many miles apart and our visits were often many years apart. I will always cherish your sweet voice, the many phone calls and laughs. You never missed a birthday for me or the kids. I heard a story today on the news and it made me think of you. You are a national treasure. And I hope you got the most beautiful set of wings. My dear grandma, although there were many miles between us, I didn't get to see you in person nearly as much as I would have liked. I cherished our phone calls, even when I had to translate for the boys because of your accent. You will be missed here on earth.
