Obituary of Pauline Holancin

Pauline Holancin, passed away on June 19, 2023 surrounded by family, with medical assistance (MAID) at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket at the age of 90. Born in Gatineau, Quebec Pauline grew up in Canada and Czechoslovakia, settling in the Holland Marsh.

Pauline was a renowned artist who travelled extensively with her husband Jake Mol, painting and teaching landscape and floral painting in both oil and watercolour. She was instrumental in bringing many well known international artists to Ontario for teaching workshops. She was a member of the Willowdale Group of Artists, the Toronto Watercolour Society, the Central Ontario Art Association, the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, and the Vodka Painters of Canada. She taught at the Haliburton School of Fine Arts for many years and her paintings hang in many international and Canadian collections. Pauline had a great love of Canada and the natural world, painting and teaching outdoors whenever possible.

Pauline loved to host and entertain family and friends at her home. She was an amazing cook and baker and her grandchildren especially loved her exceptional pies. Pauline was a supporter of all the arts and enjoyed movies, live theatre, reading, music and singalongs. She had a keen interest in current events, was a strong advocate of women's rights, and accepting of all people. These values were encouraged in her children and grandchildren who learned so much from her.

Pauline will always be remembered for her welcoming nature, her love of family and her sense of humour. She will be greatly missed by her family and her extensive circle of friends.

Cherished daughter of late John and late Zuzana Holancin. Beloved wife of late Jake Mol. Loving mother of Joanne Kulha (Ken McFadyen), Jackie Kent (David), Cyndie Jerome (Michael), Michele Kulha and Jane Kulha (Erich Sawicki). Proud grandmother of Dylan and Alex McFadyen, Kayla Kent-Jarvis (Andrew), Michael Kent (Danielle Santos), Jessica and Jason Jerome, Kira Kulha-Ralls, David Mack and Roman Sawicki. Adored great grandmother of Marin and Mira Jarvis, and Mackenzie Kent. Dear sister of late John (late Kay) Holancin, late Anne (late Jarda) Papousek, late Paul Holancin, Helen (late Bill) Poulis, late Mary (Gary) Gilbert, George (late Lydia) Holancin, Johanna (late Doug) Meharg, Betty Holancin, Jim (Myrna) Holancin and late Rick Holancin. Pauline will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. 

In Pauline's memory, donations may be made to Scott Mission (donate to Scott Mission) and Global Empowerment Mission (donate to Global Empowerment Mission).
