Obituary of David Roy Warnica
David Roy Warnica
May 14, 1954 – November 17, 2024
Dave Warnica passed peacefully on November 17th at the age of 70. He was a gentle giant who believed that kindness, respect, a good sense of humour and fairness made the world a better place.
Dave’s love, pride and enthusiasm for his family and friends were evident by the smile that lit up his whole face and by his optimistic outlook in spite of his challenges.
He enjoyed social gatherings, sitting at the lake, music on the deck, dancing with Dianne when he was able, and hosting parties. His technical pursuits included his model railroad builds (with a good following on his blog), designing and remodelling kitchens, bathrooms, decks and much more.
Dave is lovingly remembered by his partner and wife, Dianne Turcotte, his son Cole, daughter-in-law Kaitlin and grandson Callum, and predeceased by his son Glenn (2005). He is survived by his brother Wayne (Gail), sister-in-law Jennifer Healey and the Turcotte clan: Carole Gencay, Lynne (Hardy) Fruhner, Tim (Karen), Malcolm (Deanna) and John (Sharon). He was predeceased by his brother Richard and wife Cheryl, parents Lt. Col. James and Betty Warnica, brother-in-law Ramo Gencay and nephew Scott Story. As well, Dave is fondly remembered by 18 nieces, nephews and their children, his friends through the years and his model railroader buddies.
A celebration of life will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford, ON, on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. Eulogy at 2:45 p.m. by Cole Warnica and Lynne Fruhner.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Matthews House Hospice where Dave received comfort, dignity and love on his journey.
